Arsenal handed potentially massive personnel boost ahead of Everton

Arsenal handed potentially massive personnel boost ahead of Everton

Premier League giants Arsenal have provided a fitness update on the club’s squad, ahead of their upcoming showdown with Everton.

Toffees test

Mikel Arteta’s men are primed to return to action in a little over 24 hours’ time.

In the last of the gameweek’s Premier League fixtures, the Gunners will make the trip to Goodison Park, eyeing a swift return to winning ways on the back of a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Manchester United last time out.

And who would bet against Arsenal managing precisely that?

The north Londoners, after all, have looked a much-improved outfit over recent months, whilst upcoming opponents Everton currently stand as one of the most out-of-form sides in the English top-flight.

Remarkably, the Toffees are winless since all the way back in September, a stretch of form which has seen Rafael Benitez’s men slip to the lowly depths of 16th in the table.

Xhaka comeback?

Nevertheless, though, Mikel Arteta will no doubt be hopeful of having as many of his key performers as possible fit and available to feature from the off on Monday night.

And, if the latest word stemming from the Gunners’ camp is anything to go by, then an altogether unexpected boost could yet come the way of the Spaniard at Goodison Park.

Taking to social media a short time ago, Arsenal provided a team news update on the club’s squad.

And the standout takeaway unquestionably came in the form of the latest word on Granit Xhaka.

Midfielder Xhaka has of course been sidelined since late in September, after picking up a knee ligament injury which was expected to see him remain out of action until the new year.

A miraculous recovery, however, has seen the Swiss return to first-team training over the last couple of weeks, with ‘his availability being assessed ahead of Monday’s match’.

Elsewhere, both Emile Smith Rowe and Bernd Leno are too ‘being assessed’ before Monday’s trip to Merseyside, amid respective groin problems.

Sead Kolasinac, though, has been ruled out.
