Barcelona rejected as Karim Adeyemi makes decision on next club

Barcelona rejected as Karim Adeyemi inches towards next club

Word stemming from the German press on Monday suggests that Barcelona have missed out on the signature of Red Bull Salzburg sensation Karim Adeyemi.

Blaugrana concerns

It is of course common knowledge that, ahead of the January transfer window reopening, La Liga giants Barcelona are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.

New boss Xavi Hernandez has been left with something of a conundrum in the attacking third over his first few weeks in the job at the Camp Nou, owing to a terrible stretch of luck on the personnel front.

As things stand, all of Martin Braithwaite, Sergio Aguero and Ansu Fati are on the sidelines, due to respective fitness issues.

Add to this the fact that Antoine Griezmann was allowed to secure a return to Atletico Madrid during the summer, opening the door for the bizarre arrival of out-of-favour Luuk de Jong, and the woes facing Xavi in the final third become clear for all to see.

Dortmund bound

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word emanating from Germany on Monday evening is anything to go by, then one key target to reinforce the Barcelona frontline appears to have slipped through the club’s grasp.

The player in question? Karim Adeyemi.

The name of teenage sensation Adeyemi will no doubt be well known to those of a Blaugrana persuasion, with the German, amid a scintillating opening to the campaign in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg, having been hotly tipped for a Camp Nou switch.

As per Sky Germany, however, though Adeyemi does look set to be on the move imminently, Barcelona will not be his eventual landing spot.

This comes with the 19-year-old understood to have rejected an offer from Catalunya, in favour of securing a return to his home country.

In turn, a move to Borussia Dortmund is viewed as 90-95% certain.
