Barcelona’s latest Ferran Torres offer as insight provided into terms of deal

Barcelona’s latest Ferran Torres offer revealed as insight provided into just how close Man City deal is

A fresh update on Barcelona’s ongoing pursuit of Manchester City star Ferran Torres has, on Thursday, been provided online.

The name of Spanish international Torres has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes on the back of reports rapidly spreading across the attacker’s home country that La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights firmly on a January swoop for Torres.

New boss Xavi Hernandez is known to be on the lookout for reinforcements to his frontline ahead of the opening of the winter window, owing to the enforced long-term absences of Martin Braithwaite, Sergio Aguero and, most recently, Memphis Depay.

Nevertheless, it came as something of a surprise when, first, Mundo Deportivo revealed that Torres had informed Man City of his deep desire to secure a move to the Camp Nou, a prospect subsequently green-lighted by Pep Guardiola.

Not only that, but Marca soon followed up with a similar report of their own, which went as far as to suggest that the personal terms of a contract had been agreed upon between club and player.

Deal inching closer?

And now, as outlined above, on Thursday, a fresh insight into the situation has been forthcoming.

This time, though, it is the terms of a potential agreement between Barca and City which have come under the microscope.

As per Zach Lowy of ESPN, citing Spanish outlet Diario Sport, the transfer chiefs at the Camp Nou have tabled a fresh offer, worth a none-too-shabby 45 million euro, for Torres’ signature.

This marks a full 10 million more than the Catalans are understood to have initially proposed.

At the same time, meanwhile, it is assured that Manchester City have lowered their demands from 70 million euro to 60:

Such developments, in turn, have culminated in Sport assuring on their front page on Friday that an agreement between the two clubs is inching ‘closer and closer’ to being found.
