Ralf Rangnick equals century-old Man United record in Norwich victory

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick etched his name into the history books of the club this evening, owing to a 1-0 triumph over Norwich City.

Ronaldo the difference maker

The Red Devils, of course, made the trip to Carrow Road a short time ago.

After making it two wins on the bounce courtesy of a 1-0 downing of Crystal Palace last weekend, Rangnick and co. travelled to East Anglia hopeful of keeping their resurgence alive, to move level with 4th-placed West Ham in the Premier League table.

And, in the end, this is precisely what United managed.

Though their display proved some way from ‘vintage’, the Manchester giants, aided in no small part by the brilliance of David de Gea, did enough to emerge on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline.

Cristiano Ronaldo, almost inevitably, proved decisive on the day, lashing home from the penalty spot fifteen minutes from time:

And United’s eventual triumph at Carrow Road, as outlined above, has since proven itself to be an altogether significant one for the club’s boss.

As per statisticians Opta, Ralf Rangnick, in guiding his side to all three points and, more specifically, a clean sheet, became the first Man United manager since all the way back in 1903 to oversee successive shutouts in his first two outings in charge of the club:
