Brandon Williams finds his feet away from Manchester

Amid the resurgence of Luke Shaw, Brandon Williams saw his Manchester United gametime severely limited at the Theatre of Dreams.

The English full-back made just 4 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last campaign, and it was clear a loan move was needed.

And he got just that, moving to Norwich City, where he has impressed thus far albeit in a struggling side.

Having made 10 appearances in the top flight for the East Anglian club, the loan move is doing him plenty of good, and now he has explained exactly why.

Williams opens up on improvement

In an exclusive interview with Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, the Norwich loanee touched on a wide range of topics, ranging from his family influences to the importance of fans to him.

Most importantly for Red Devils fans, however, is how he is improving while at Carrow Road, with Williams set to return in the summer to fight for a spot on the left-side of their defence.

And in that regard, there is good news. Williams notes his improvements on the ball, especially when it comes to carrying the ball, as well as his positioning when he doesn’t have the ball.

The Manchester-born defender claimed:

“My positioning is improving and my confidence when I have the ball,”

“I know I can do stuff, but sometimes I turn it down because I don’t have the confidence. But I am starting to want to go on dribbles.”

He was also quick to speak on his best position, re-affirming that he much prefers playing on the left than the right, despite being right footed. Williams revealed:

“There is a massive difference [between the left and the right]. I feel comfortable on the left. On the right, I feel I am limited in the stuff I can do. On the left, yeah, I might not have the top cross into the box that a left-footer has but I have stuff they can’t do. I like to use that, coming inside, playing one-twos. And my left is not bad, I can still use it.”

Will he be able to return to Old Trafford and fight for a first team spot next season?
