Manchester United handed a further boost ahead of their clash with Brighton

Manchester United fixtures in doubt

Manchester United are the latest side to be hit by an outbreak of COVID-19, with their Premier League game against Brentford having been called off as a result, becoming the second game to do so after Tottenham’s clash with Brighton.

And now, it has got worse. As per the Daily Telegraph, 19 positive cases have been recorded, although it was earlier reported that all those that travelled to Norwich last Saturday had tested negative.

It remains to be seen whether their future fixtures are going to be affected by the continuing outbreak, with their next game due to take place against Brighton at the weekend. Should it proceed, however, they have just been handed a massive boost.

Bissouma out of Manchester United clash

Now, should the game go ahead, Brighton will have to make do without one of their star men, in the form of midfield general Yves Bissouma.

With his side currently locked in action with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bissouma was booked for a foul on the Wolves full back, Marcal.

The problem for Brighton going forwards however, is that it proved to be Bissouma’s fifth booking of the season, which triggers an automatic one match ban, which just so happens to be against the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Bissouma, once a target for Liverpool, Arsenal and even Manchester United themselves, has struggled at times this season for Graham Potter’s side, but remains a key figure and his absence, along with the current COVID absentees for the Seagulls, could make the Red Devils a very tricky proposition.
