Why Xavi has ruled out a Barcelona move for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba

Laporta holds secret meeting with Mino Raiola ahead of transfer window

As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta met with renowned superagent Mino Raiola in the Italian city of Turin ahead of the upcoming transfer windows.

Raiola represents a whole host of top clients, including Erling Haaland, Mattijs De Ligt, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti, with several of his clients expected to be on the move this summer, not least Haaland, with a rumoured 85 million euro release clause.

Barcelona, unsurprisingly, are interested. One player who they will reportedly not be pursuing, however, is Paul Pogba.

Why Xavi doesn’t want Pogba

Pogba will be out of contract at Manchester United come the summer, and has shown little desire to renew his current deal with the Red Devils, six years after joining the club for a then club-record fee.

However, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona will not be his next destination. They report that:

“Despite the fact that Raiola has also offered Pogba to Laporta and that he has already been linked to Barça on occasion, the style of the Terrassa coach and his commitment to more technical than physical profiles in the engine room”

So, it appears that Xavi would rather pursue more “technical” players, although Pogba is capable of some of the most technical football on the planet, despite his poor showing in Manchester United colours.

Where will the Frenchman head And who could Barca target instead?
