Mason Greenwood, from hero to zero?

In the Champions League clash with Swiss side Young Boys, Mason Greenwood stood out like a sore thumb in what was largely a Manchester United B team, and for all the right reasons.

A brilliant goal, and great all-around performance, showed why he was already head and shoulders above others around him his age, and the Premier League experience he has already picked up came to the fore.

Come the weekend, however, he was once more consigned to the bench, a position he is becoming accustomed to in recent weeks. The English youngster has been on the bench for all of Manchester United’s last four Premier League games, coming off the bench in the last two.

Clearly searching for increased football, speculation surrounding his potential future away from Old Trafford has emerged.

Greenwood interesting Arsenal and European giants?

Now, as per Spanish outlet El Nacional, Greenwood is considering a future away from the Red Devils, despite him being a product of their academy.

They report that Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival has put some noses, including Greenwood’s out of joint:

“Among the big detractors of the five-time winner of the Golden Ball [Ronaldo] are Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes, who has not reacted well to no longer being the main man of the team. And the latest to join this long list is Mason Greenwood”

They continue:

“The fact that he always has to start from the bench has upset the Englishman, who has begun to study his possible way out.”

Amid interested parties, who are sure to be widespread given his ability, are Arsenal, Barcelona and Juventus, El Nacional report. Unlikely to move to Arsenal, could we see Greenwood head abroad in search of more first team football, or is he the natural successor to Cristiano Ronaldo in two years time, and will he be happy to wait that long?
