An insight into the likelihood of Ralf Rangnick sanctioning departures for no fewer than four members of Manchester United’s squad has been provided on Friday evening.

Rangnick era underway

The subject of the transfer window has of course taken its place front and centre in the media chatter surrounding Old Trafford of late.

This comes on the back of the highly anticipated arrival of German mastermind Ralf Rangnick at the club.

Rangnick, viewed as something of a visionary amongst many European circles, has previously overseen stellar business on the transfer front at the likes of Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.

In turn, despite his status on the touchline, rather than in the boardroom at Man United, the 63-year-old is expected to play a central role in both incoming and outgoing business on the red half of Manchester in both January, and next summer (when he will take up a consultancy position).

VDB staying put

And, as outlined above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then Rangnick already appears to have come to a decision on the short-term futures of no fewer than four current members of his squad.

First up come Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.

With Rangnick of the mindset that his bloated squad requires trimming around the edges this winter, and both Lingard and Martial of course struggling for game-time, it is understood that the two attackers will be granted departures.

Whilst the former is expected to secure some form of fee off the bat, offloading the out-of-form Martial could prove more challenging, with a loan move therefore not out of the question.

On the flip side, however, two members of Rangnick’s ranks who look set to stay put come in the form of Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek.

Shot-stopper Henderson is another rumoured to be open to the prospect of a move elsewhere, having fallen firmly behind David de Gea in the battle for the no.1 spot at Old Trafford.

Ajax, meanwhile, have been tipped as a potential landing spot for the English international.

Boss Rangnick, though, is not keen on the idea of having just the 35-year-old Tom Heaton as backup to de Gea, with Henderson, as a result, expected to see out the campaign in Manchester.

And the same can be said for midfielder Donny van de Beek.

VDB has of course seen his name cast into the spotlight once more to this point in the season, amid fresh struggles for time on the pitch.

But Rangnick appears adamant that the Dutch international will be going nowhere this winter, with the new United boss a firm believer in the talents possessed by van de Beek.
