The alarming spread of Covid amongst the continent’s top clubs, however, has not been restricted solely to the Premier League.

Recent days have seen concern mount at the aforementioned Real Madrid, after it was first confirmed that the La Liga table-toppers had seen a pair of stars return positive tests for the virus:

Then, 24 hours later, a further quartet of positive cases were revealed, in the form of all of Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin and Rodrygo.

Modric returns

As such, it is safe to say that tensions in the Spanish capital are understandably high, ahead of a La Liga showdown with Cadiz this coming Sunday.

As alluded to above, though, with a little over 48 hours to go before the Bernabeu clash, Real, at the last, have been afforded some positive news on the personnel front.

This comes in the form of confirmation that one of the aforementioned Covid cases today returned a negative test.

The player in question? Luka Modric.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Modric is cleared by Real and La Liga alike to take to the pitch against Cadiz.
