Two more Real Madrid stars emerge as late doubts to face Cadiz

Ancelotti’s headache grows as two more Real Madrid stars emerge as late doubts to face Cadiz

The personnel woes facing Real Madrid have continued to mount on Friday, amid fresh doubts over the availability of two key players.

Covid chaos before Cadiz

Los Blancos are of course set to return to action in a little over 48 hours’ time.

Sitting pretty atop the La Liga table, Carlo Ancelotti’s men will welcome relegation-battling Cadiz to the Spanish capital, hopeful of maintaining their advantage over the chasing pack.

To say that Real’s pre-match preparations have not exactly gone according to plan, though, would be something of an understatement…

Amid the hectic festive fixture list, the club’s camp has been hit by an altogether untimely outbreak of Covid-19.

Over the last couple of days alone, all of Marcelo, Luka Modric, Rodrygo, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin and Marco Asensio have been confirmed as having returned positive tests for the virus (though Modric has since tested negative).

Benzema to miss out?

And, as outlined above, late on Friday, the problems facing the capital giants have only continued to mount.

As per a report from Marca, two star members of Carlo Ancelotti’s ranks are viewed as major doubts to feature on Sunday, owing to respective injury problems.

First up comes Dani Carvajal, who it is understood was forced to train inside the club’s training base today, unable to take to the grass.

Even more concerning will be doubts surrounding Karim Benzema, though.

The French international, in the midst of a scintillating campaign to date, was forced off at the interval in Real’s derby triumph over city rivals Atletico last time out, and is yet to rejoin the rest of Ancelotti’s squad in full team training.
