Word stemming from the media on Saturday evening suggests that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is taking into consideration a reunion with a member of his midfield ranks at both Juventus and Inter Milan next summer.

Conte’s influence

The subject of the transfer window has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines when it comes to ongoings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium of late.

This comes with the Lilywhites, on the back of the instillation of the aforementioned Conte on the club’s bench, widely expected to dip into the market following the turn of the year.

The new Spurs boss, across his career on the touchline to date, has never been shy in quickly putting his personal stamp on his squad of players.

His last posting, at Inter Milan, for example, saw Conte surprise the masses in bringing the likes of Ashley Young, Alexis Sanchez and Matteo Darmian to the San Siro.

The results, however, could not exactly be argued with, with the Italian having guided the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title in 2020/21.

Vidal eyed?

In turn, it feels safe to assume that at least one or two handpicked reinforcements will be making their way to the Lilywhite half of north London over the course of next month.

And, as alluded to above, on Saturday, an insight into one such potential arrival has been provided.

The player in question? Arturo Vidal.

As per a report from Football-Italia, citing La Tercera in Chile of the midfielder’s home country of Chile, Vidal has been identified as a target on the part of Conte ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

This comes with the fiery veteran, who will turn 35 next May, set to be available as a free agent upon the expiration of his contract with Inter.

Any such move would mark a 3rd shared spell between player and manager, with Conte and Vidal having previously joined forces at both Juventus and Inter, to devastating effect (certainly in the case of the former, anyway).

The midfield dynamo himself, meanwhile, is understood to be intrigued by the prospect of testing his talents in the Premier League.
