Tottenham and Liverpool are currently locked in Premier League action in north London.

Both outfits were forced to field somewhat makeshift sides on the day, due to Covid-19 issues.

Despite this, though, it was predicted that Liverpool would continue their superb 2021/22 campaign, and eventually earn the win.

Kane lucky to stay on?

However, it is Spurs who have looked the much better of the two sides thus far and, at the time of writing, lead.

Harry Winks won the ball in midfield before it eventually fell to Tanguy Ndombele who slipped in Harry Kane to slot beyond Alisson:

Shortly after netting the opener, though, Kane lunged into a fairly reckless tackle on Andy Robertson:

Based on modern rulings, a red card being brandished for such a challenge seemed very likely.

However, even after a VAR review, Kane escaped with a yellow card.

And the decision, in turn, prompted viewers to flood to social media to highlight apparent favouritism of Kane, amid the suggestion that he escaped a sending off due to being the English national team captain:
