Wolves vs Chelsea

Sunday’s earliest Premier League kick-off is currently playing out in the midlands.

Said tie sees Bruno Lage’s Wolves taking on Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.

Chelsea have had some Covid-19-related issues this week, which sees a number of their top stars missing out.

However, the Londoners were still able to field a fairly strong eleven and put four senior outfield players on the bench – a lot better than Leeds managed on Saturday vs Arsenal.

And, despite Chelsea fielding what was probably their strongest possible back-line on the day, Wolves thought they had taken the lead after just 15 minutes when Daniel Podence slotted past Edouard Mendy.

However, the goal was rightly ruled out after Raul Jimenez was adjudged to have been offside in the build-up.

Bruno Lage’s side, though, continued to dominate Tuchel and co. early on in the game.

Should Kante have been sent off?

The score would remain at 0-0 during the opening half-hour, but should Chelsea have had a man sent off?

An attempted pas was made from a Wolves player to Daniel Podence. However, N’Golo Kante got back to block the ball. But, it did look as though the Frenchman used his arm to prevent the pass.

And, as Kante was the last man between Podence and Chelsea’s goal, a case could certainly be made that the midfielder should have seen red as he did look to have denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

This is certainly the opinion of many fans on social media, with just some of the reaction shown below:
