Mason Mount has been discussing how Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has improved his game since he took charge.

Mason Mount’s Chelsea stint

Mason Mount has been a key cog in Chelsea’s side since former boss Frank Lampard took the reins.

The Englishman had spent the previous season on loan in the Championship with Lampard’s Derby County.

In turn, upon ‘Lamps’ being named Chelsea boss for the 2019/20 season, he opted to instantly hand Mount a starting berth.

This seemed like a bold move at the time, given the midfielder’s lack of top-flight experience, but to say that it has since worked out well would be putting it lightly.

Mount has become an essential part of both Chelsea and England’s setup over the last couple of years and, of course, laid on the Blues’ Champions League final-winning goal versus Manchester City back in May.

Mount on what Tuchel has improved in his game

Now, in the current campaign, despite a small dip in form, the midfielder has still been able to notch seven goals and four assists in 15 league outings this term.

In comparison, Mount scored just six and assisted six in 36 league ties in 2020/21.

So, it is not at all surprising to hear Mount state recently that Thomas Tuchel has improved his attacking play:

“He has definitely improved my attacking play. I had never really played as high up as I have under him before in my career.

“It is about getting into the box more, being more clinical, the final pass.”

Mason Mount also discussed the possibility of Chelsea winning the Premier League title.

“The title has always been our goal. We want to be up there,” he explained.

“More than ever this season, we feel like we have a big chance. We can definitely do it. We have the confidence.”
