Photos stemming from the training ground of Premier League giants Chelsea have confirmed that yet another member of the club’s academy setup has linked up with Thomas Tuchel’s first-team squad.

Simons and more involved

The latest crop of up-and-coming talent in west London has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Chelsea over the last 24 hours.

This comes after boss Tuchel opted to hand opportunities to no fewer than three Blues starlets in the club’s meeting with Brentford.

The European champions made the short trip to the Brentford Community Stadium last night, eventually emerging with a 2-0 victory to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Playing their part in the eventual triumph, meanwhile, were the trio of Jude Soonsup-Bell, Xavier Simons and Harvey Vale, all of whom were handed surprise starting berths.

Fellow youngsters Lewis Hall and Charlie Webster were included on the bench in the capital, too.

Rankine spotted

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, yet another Cobham talent has been afforded the opportunity to impress alongside Thomas Tuchel’s star-studded squad.

The player in question? Dion Rankine.

As confirmed by the reliable Sam Inkersole of, highly-regarded wing-back Rankine was spotted in Chelsea first-team training earlier today.

Although it remains unlikely that the 19-year-old will be afforded a spot in the Blues’ matchday squad to face Aston Villa this weekend, his latest experience, alongside the likes of Romelu Lukaku and N’ Golo Kante, will no doubt place Rankine in good stead when it comes to a potential first-team bow down the road.
