Patino to remain with Arsenal first-team through the festive period

Arsenal starlet Charlie Patino looks set to be given increased exposure in the first-team under Mikel Arteta after the Hale End Academy product was pictured in training today at London Colney.

The Gunners are set to clash with Norwich at Carrow Road on Boxing Day this Sunday but will eventually have to contend with the departures of both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny who are destined for AFCON duty with Ghana and Egypt respectively.

With fixture congestion during the festive period in England increasingly under the microscope in conjunction with AFCON concerns, the continued presence of Charlie Patino could be an indication that a possible Premier League debut is on the cards for the 18-year-old Watford-native.

Barcelona tracking Gunners starlet

When Arsenal ran out 5-1 winners against League One outfit Sunderland at the Emirates, no one would have expected Charlie Patino to make a dream debut against the Black Cats.

Coming off the bench in the second half, the England U19 international eventually found the back of the net after Nicolas Pépé once again skinned left-back Denver Hume before laying off for Patino to slide home his close-range effort past keeper Lee Burge in the 91st minute.

It was a story arch that many Arsenal supporters continue to champion as the club’s youth sector continues to develop talents at an impressive rate in recent seasons. But Patino has already garnered interest from bigger outfits outside of England’s borders after links with interest from Spanish giants Barcelona have surfaced according to major outlet MARCA.

The publication also made mention of the fact that not only does Patino have a Spanish father, but remarked on the youngsters’ footballing idles being none other than Santi Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas, and Arteta himself; two of which that have direct affiliation with Barcelona.

With his rise among the ranks in north London, continued speculation surrounding the future of Patino both at home and abroad is sure to continue should he be given additional chances for minutes this season at Arsenal.
