Arsenal told price for midfield star Bruno Guimaraes amid Roma interest

Arsenal in need of midfield reinforcements

Arsenal will face something of a midfield crisis come January.

With Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny both away taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations, Mikel Arteta will have just Granit Xhaka, an unhappy Ainsley Maitland-Niles, summer signing Sambi Lokonga and youth talent Charlie Patino to call upon.

And, given that the Gunners will face Liverpool twice, Manchester City and Tottenham in a busy month, they are going to need more than that if they hope to compete across all 6 ties.

It seems clear that central midfield is a key area that Arteta will have to address in the upcoming transfer windows, but have they just been handed a price for one man that they have been tracking for some time, in Lyon star Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal handed transfer incentive for Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal have been chasing Bruno Guimaraes since he was plying his trade in Brazil, but ultimately lost out in the race to Lyon, who snapped him up in January 2020.

Two years on, they may have the chance to sign him again, albeit at a premium.

As per Brazilian outlet Globo, Lyon have slapped a 45 million euro price tag on their midfielder’s head, amid interest from Jose Mourinho and Roma.

The Serie A outfit, for their part, are willing to offer 30 million euros for his services, while they are also still in talks with Arsenal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, yet another midfielder.

Could Arsenal be set to take advantage of that move by beating Roma to the punch when it comes to Guimaraes, or are there better options out there for the Gunners?
