Liverpool handed quadruple boost ahead of Leicester

Liverpool handed quadruple boost ahead of Leicester/ Klopp confirms when Salah & Mane will leave for AFCON

Leicester vs Liverpool

Tuesday’s Premier League action will draw to a close at the King Power when Leicester City host Liverpool.

Liverpool head into the game having recently dropped points to Tottenham and then they had their meeting with Leeds United called off on Boxing Day.

As a result, the Reds go into the Leicester game six points adrift of current league leaders Manchester City, who beat Leicester in their last game.

Liverpool do have a game in hand on City, which is the Leicester match, but even if they win that they are still three points off top spot.

And, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set to depart for around a month in the coming days, Liverpool really need to win Tuesday’s game as there looks to be a much higher chance they will drop points next month when two of their top players depart.

Leicester, meanwhile, are languishing in midtable and struggling to put together a decent run of form, though they will take some confidence in them putting three past Manchester City recently.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool covid cases, Salah & Mane

Ahead of the Leicester tie, Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media on Monday afternoon.

When doing so, the German confirmed that Liverpool players who had to isolate due to Covid-19 are now back:

“The boys who had to isolate are back – Fab, Virg, Curtis and Thiago. Thiago trained yesterday with the team.

“We have one young player who is isolating and two staff members.”

Klopp also commented on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane’s availability, confirming they can play vs Chelsea on the 2nd of January, but have to leave after that game, meaning they will miss the first leg of the League Cup semi-final vs Arsenal on January 6th.

“The news about that is good. I’m thankful for that and I think it’s right. It’s good the boys can play this game. After that, they have to go.”
