Erling Haaland: Footballing superstar

On the back of Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are the next two superstars to fight it out.

Haaland broke onto the scene two years ago at RB Salzburg, but has honed his craft at Borussia Dortmund, and is the single most sought-after player in world football.

Still only 21 years old, he has scored 13 times in 11 Bundesliga appearances this season, and has long been subject to interest from both Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, the Manchester clubs are certainly not alone in their admiration of the Norwegian, with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid also keen.

Haaland “prefers La Liga”

And, speaking to Wettfreunde.net, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has dealt a hammer blow to Premier League clubs chasing Haaland’s signature.

Quizzed on the Norwegian’s potential next destination, the Italian revealed:

He [Haaland, note] doesn’t like the Premier League too much, it’s not exactly his dream. It’s not the perfect league right now.

He prefers La Liga – he likes the league a lot. So I think La Liga is the perfect environment for him to play in now. Or the Bundesliga, where he currently plays.

The Premier League is certainly a player’s dream league, but it’s not in his [Haaland, note] head and not his first choice.

I don’t know why because every player wants to stay at Manchester United or Chelsea now.

This factor will make any move for Haaland particularly difficult for either Manchester club, especially with Real Madrid and Barcelona both sniffing around the Dortmund man.

With both Pep Guardiola and Ralf Rangnick needing new strikers in the coming season, who will they turn their attentions to next?
