Tottenham beginning to gel under Antonio Conte

After a bumpy start to the 2021-22 season, it seems as though Tottenham are finally heading in the right direction under new boss and serial winner Antonio Conte.

The Italian took charge in the wake of Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure in October, and while the club have been knocked out of the Europa Conference League, Europe’s third-tier competition, they are impressing in the Premier League.

Four wins from their last five games means that the Lilywhites are firmly back in the hunt for the top four, and are yet to experience defeat under their new boss. Although they sit six points behind current fourth place holders Arsenal, they have three games in hand on the north London side, which would put them in the Champions League spot should they win them all.

However, work still needs to be done, and reinforcements could be on the way come January and the summer, with the side in need of some reconstruction in order to really challenge for major honours.

Tottenham in pole position for Serie A star

Now, as per Spanish outlet Marca, they could be set to land their first signing, on a free transfer come the summer.

The player in question? Midfield general Franck Kessie.

Kessie will almost certainly be leaving AC Milan in the summer upon his contract expiry, with a renewal looking unlikely. And according to Marca:

“Spurs are confident of securing Kessie’s services on a pre-contract agreement in January, with the player joining up with Antonio Conte’s side ahead of next season.”

Of course, Tottenham are well versed in Serie A prospects, with both Fabio Paratici (current director of football) and Antonio Conte having spent a lot of time in Serie A.

A tough-tackling and skillful midfielder, is Kessie what Tottenham need in the engine room in north London?
