Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale reveals odd way he made an extra 17 pounds in win over Leeds United

Aaron Ramsdale continues to impress

Eyebrows were raised when Arsenal agreed to shell out 24 million pounds for then Sheffield United number one Aaron Ramsdale.

However, he has seen his stock soar since his move, breaking into the first team almost immediately, and offering Arsenal a whole new dimension both in defence and build up play.

He currently sits joint with Liverpool’s Alisson on 9 Premier League clean sheets this season, while only Ederson, with 10, can lay claim to more. Ramsdale has been a key part of that too, making a series of impressive saves, including one against Leicester City.

Already making his England debut, albeit in a 10-0 demolition of San Marino, Ramsdale is pushing current England no.1 Jordan Pickford hard for the shirt ahead of the World Cup due to take place in Qatar next November.

And now, an altogether hilarious anecdote has emerged about what happened when he played Leeds United at Elland Road two weeks ago.

How Ramsdale made an extra £17

Speaking on the podcast of fellow Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster, Ramsdale revealed that he made an extra £17 when Arsenal played Leeds at Elland Road, solely from the coins being thrown onto the pitch.

The Arsenal no.1 claimed:

“After the first [goal], there were some bottles and stuff thrown, a few lighters and I chucked the off to the side. The next thing you know, money started coming on!

There was one two quid, and I collect those so I took that, then there’s quids and 50ps, so I pick them up and I put them by my towel. At half time I put them in my towel, I run off and put them in the changing room.

Second half comes, a few more come on, and then an E-cig,” Ramsdale continues.

“It was about 17 quid I pulled off the pitch and I missed some”

Safe to say, Ramsdale won’t mind playing back there again.
