A fresh update on the wellbeing of injured Chelsea defender Reece James has come to the fore online on Friday evening.

James joins walking wounded

The name of wing-back James has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in west London over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes after the English international saw his name added to the already lengthy list of absentees from Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea squad.

The Blues welcomed Brighton & Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, eventually slipping to a 1-1 stalemate owing to a last-gasp equaliser on the part of Danny Welbeck:

The eventual result, however, proved far from the only concern for Thomas Tuchel and co. on the night.

This comes with the aforementioned James having been forced to limp out of proceedings inside half an hour, after pulling up with what was later confirmed to be a hamstring injury.

Spell out of action

With fellow wing-back Ben Chilwell recently ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, and the likes of N’Golo Kante and Romelu Lukaku also struggling to maintain fitness, it therefore goes without saying that all associated with Chelsea were no doubt praying for good news when it comes to James’ predicted recovery.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, a fresh update on the situation has been provided.

In a boost for club and player alike, it has been confirmed by the reliable Matt Law of The Daily Telegraph that James will not require surgery.

The Pensioners youth product, though, is nevertheless facing up to a spell of six to eight weeks on the sidelines, following confirmation that James has in fact torn his hamstring:
