Arsenal star singled out for praise following impressive first half vs Man City

Arsenal vs Manchester City

Arsenal are currently locked in action with Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side headed into the game sat 4th in the Premier League table, four points clear of 5th place West Ham.

However, Manchester United and Tottenham are hot on the Gunners’ heels, with the latter of that duo able to overtake their north London rivals if they win both of their games in hand.

As a result, Arsenal really could not afford to drop any points in gameweek 21.

But, as Manchester City are currently the highest scorers and have the best defence in the PL, Arsenal picking up a win obviously did not look too likely.

So, it was quite surprising to see how the open 45 minutes played out in north London.

Partey praised

Manchester City did have a few half-chances, and looked particularly threatening from crosses.

However, Arsenal were, for the most part, able to neutralise the Sky Blues in the first half.

A big reason why they were able to do so was because of the intensity of Thomas Partey.

The Ghanian had a superb start to the clash, pressing very well, making smart tackles and also chipping in with the attack – including setting up Gabriel Martinelli for a great chance he perhaps could have done better with.

As a result, Partey has earned special praise from Arsenal fans on social media, with just some of the reaction shown below:
