Chelsea vs Liverpool

Chelsea are currently locked in Premier League action with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

After Manchester City saw off Arsenal on Saturday, both sides really could have done with securing all three points this evening, to ensure that they keep some sort of pace with the league leaders.

Chelsea, in particular, could not afford a loss on the day, as it would have seen them drop 11 points behind Man City with less than half of the season to play.

Unfortunately for the Blues, though, they would nevertheless fall behind early in the tie.

Christian Pulisic was gifted a chance to put the home side in front early on after some smart pressing from Kai Havertz, but the American fluffed his lines.

Chalobah targeted

Moments after this chance, Trevoh Chalobah opted to, somewhat bizarrely, attempt to clear an incoming ball with his head, when using his feet looked a far wiser option.

This led to Chalobah’s attempted clearance allowing Sadio Mane to pick up the loose ball and round Edouard Mendy to make it 1-0:

This marked Chalobah’s second big mistake of the opening 10 minutes, with the first having resulted in Mendy saving a Mohamed Salah effort.

In turn, after his second error led to a goal, the Chelsea stopper has come in for some heavy criticism online, with just some of the reaction from across Twitter shown below:
