Chelsea vs Tottenham

Tottenham have, of course, now gone some time without winning a trophy.

In fact, Spurs, despite somehow being dubbed one of the ‘top-six’ Premier League clubs, have not won a piece of silverware since 2008.

When they did so, they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final by two goals to one.

Now, it is Chelsea who stand in the away of Tottenham reaching the 2021/22 League Cup final.

The two London rivals are set to face off at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening in the first of two League Cup semi-final ties.

Antonio Conte on transfers & Steven Bergwijn

Ahead of the game, Antonio held his pre-Chelsea press conference on Monday afternoon.

The Italian discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including the fitness of Steve Bergwijn, who looks to be touch and go for the Chelsea match:

“We have to wait a bit before we know when he will be available.”

Conte also claimed he is yet to speak with the club about transfers:

“My expectation is to speak with my club and then to tell them my opinion. The club will know after I speak and decision they want to make.”

Given we are now already in the January transfer window, should the manager have not already had a meeting with the club to outline what he wants so the recruitment staff can begin working on it?
