Fiorentina seal deal for Krzysztof Piatek

Serie A outfit Fiorentina have sealed a deal for Hertha Berlin’s Polish international striker Krzysztof Piątek which has sent alarm bells ringing aroundArsenal target Dušan Vlahović.

Both Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news less than twenty minutes ago with Piątek agreeing to personal terms with the Firenze-based club and confirming a return to Italian football.

The Dzierżoniów-native and former KS Cracovia standout previously enjoyed a credible spell in the Italian top-flight between 2018 and 2020 with both Genoa and AC Milan where he scored a combined 26-goals in 55-domestic appearances before moving to Hertha in the January window in 2020.

But the Polish striker failed to really establish roots at the Olympiastadion during a turbulent period at Hertha as the club has struggled to build their new image and a return to Italy could be just the tonic.

Arsenal target Dušan Vlahović on the move?

With the completed deal for Krzysztof Piątek, the canary in the coal mine may have been triggered in Tuscany surrounding the immediate future of Serbian starlet Dušan Vlahović.

One of the most sought-after young talents in Europe, Vlahović is high on the priority list for Arsenal hierarchy duo Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar.

It was confirmed earlier by CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs that Arsenal indeed submitted a formal bid of £45million plus wantaway midfielder and current Fiorentina loanee Lucas Torreira for the FK Partizan academy graduate.

Whether or not Arsenal has made enough headway to trigger the Piątek deal is anyone’s guess, but the timing could not be more favorable.

But Arsenal will still be made to fight tooth and nail to convince the Serbian international of their project given some of the clubs that are also keen on acquiring his services with the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham, Juventus, and Chelsea among a cadre of top clubs that are tracking him.

If the Gunners have won the Vlahović sweepstakes, then Arsenal could well have landed their next prized centre-forward in the wake of a long line of top-level strikers that have plied their trade in north London.

But further reports surfacing during the time of writing have revealed that Piątek is not viewed by Fiorentina as a replacement for Vlahović, with the move only being a loan with a buy option rather than an out-and-out full deal.
