Arsenal starlet Mika Biereth found the target in style this evening, during an U23 showdown with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Spoils shared

The latest up-and-coming crop of Hale End talent marked their return to action a short time ago.

On the back of an altogether hit-and-miss recent spell of form, Kevin Betsy’s men made the trip to the Amex Elite Performance Centre, for a Premier League 2 meeting with the aforementioned Brighton.

Arsenal headed into proceedings aware that a victory would guide them clear of both Manchester City and north London rivals Tottenham, back to the heights of 2nd in the table.

When all was said and done on England’s south coast, however, the Gunners, sans the services of key performers Charlie Patino and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Mika Biereth notched the away side’s solitary goal of the evening, latching onto Joel Ideho’s pinpoint through ball before picking out the far corner of the Brighton net in style:

The Seagulls, though, ultimately found a decisive equaliser, securing a point late in the first-half courtesy of Lorent Tolaj.

Forest test

Back on the senior front, meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s men will of course mark their return to action on Sunday evening.

Arsenal are primed to make the trip to the City Ground for a meeting with Nottingham Forest, no doubt hopeful of matching the club’s impressive Carabao Cup form with an equally deep run in the FA Cup.

The capital giants, though, will be forced to make do without a number of key performers for the clash, after boss Arteta confirmed earlier today that a Covid-19 outbreak in the camp has added to a mounting injury list, and the recent departures of AFCON quartet Thomas Partey, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mohamed Elneny and Nicolas Pepe.
