Manchester United make Erling Haaland transfer decision

Manchester United make Erling Haaland transfer decision

Manchester United need a striker

Manchester United had a few key problem areas in their squad heading into the 2021 summer transfer window.

These were right-wing, centre-back, centre-forward and central midfield.

The former two positions of that quartet have been dealt with via the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also brought into to fill the void at centre-forward. However, Ronaldo is obviously not a long-term solution.

CR7 is set to turn 37 next month and is out of contract in 2023, meaning Manchester United still need another striker because at the moment, they have an ageing Edinson Cavani who is out of contract next year, wantaway Anthony Martial who has already failed as a striker for United, Marcus Rashford who is much better suited to the wide berths and Mason Greenwood, who is never really used as a striker anyway.

So, with Cavani, Ronaldo and Martial all expected to be gone in the next year and a bit, a new striker should be on the agenda.

Manchester United not in for Haaland

One man who Manchester United fans would no doubt love their club to sign is Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian is one of the best no.9s in world football right now and would hand any potential suitor a superb centre-forward for the next decade at least.

However, Manchester United are not seemingly going to try and sign Haaland.

That is at least according to the Mirror, citing the Daily Star, who report:

Manchester United are no longer interested in signing Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland this summer.

It is believed that Haaland has ‘set his heart’ on a move to Real Madrid and Man United have reluctantly accepted his decision.
