‘Pay Everton to take him’: Newcastle fans take collective aim at one player after shock FA Cup exit‘Pay Everton to take him’: Newcastle fans take collective aim at one player after shock FA Cup exit

Newcastle United’s supporters have taken to social media in numbers on Saturday evening, to call for one member of Eddie Howe’s squad to be moved on with immediate effect.

Cambridge shock the masses

Howe of course led his troops back into action a short time ago.

Amid an excitable atmosphere owing to the club’s prospects in the January transfer window, the Magpies welcomed League One outfit Cambridge United to St. James’ Park, eyeing a morale-boosting victory in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

When all was said and done, however, to say that Newcastle’s afternoon didn’t exactly go according to plan would be something of an understatement.

A performance which could be described as nothing short of abysmal ultimately saw the day’s hosts put to the sword by a goal to nil.

The game’s telling moment was forthcoming early in the 2nd-half, as Joe Ironside slotted home to send the away support in attendance into delirium:

‘Pay Everton to take him’

In turn, on the back of another dark day in the recent history of Newcastle United, it should come as little surprise to hear of the club’s fanbase being up in arms post-match.

A whole host of the Magpies’ stars have been singled out for ruthless criticism, including the likes of Matt Ritchie, Joe Willock and Miguel Almiron.

None, however, has been more widely targeted since the full-time whistle at St. James’ than Sean Longstaff.

Taking to social media in their droves, Newcastle’s supporters have slammed their side’s once so highly-regarded midfield talent, with some having gone as far as to urge their wealthy new owners to capitalise on a paltry rumoured £1 million bid on the part of Premier League rivals Everton this month:
