Arsenal star singled out for criticism following poor start vs Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal faced a trip to the City Ground on Sunday evening for a meeting with Nottingham Forest.

The clash is a 3rd round affair in the FA Cup, and was expected to prove a straightforward outing for the Gunners, especially as Arteta still fielded a fairly strong eleven.

Nottingham Forest are currently 9th in the Championship, but have lost their last two outings.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are flying high in the Premier League, seeing off most sides with relative ease, barring the ‘top-six’. Even so, the north Londoners still put on a credible display against Manchester City last time out and, if they performed anywhere close to that level vs Forest, a win did seem likely.

Nuno Tavares targeted

However, so far, Arsenal have been far from their best.

At the time of writing the score is deadlocked at 0-0, with Arsenal struggling to muster up any real chances.

One player, in particular, though, has stood out for their awful showing in the first half vs Nottingham Forest.

That player is Nuno Tavares, who Mikel Arteta had seemingly had enough of as well because he hooked him after 34 minutes despite the left-back not appearing to be injured.

As well as being hooked by Arteta, Tavares has also come in for heavy criticism online, with just some of the reaction shown below:
